A Memory of Jesus To Share On Easter Day

Unable to determine the original author, I was at church today introduced to a thoughtfully written obituary of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

I was touched by the author’s words and especially loved the final sentence. I want to share it here:

Obituary of Jesus Christ, Son of God

“Jesus Christ, 33, of Nazareth, died Friday on Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha, the place of the skull.  Betrayed by the apostle Judas, Jesus was crucified by the Romans by order of the ruler Pontius Pilate.  The causes of death were crucifixion, extreme exhaustion, severe torture, and loss of blood.

Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham, was a member of the house of David.  He was the son of the late Joseph, a carpenter of Nazareth, and Mary, His devoted Mother.  Jesus was born in a stable in the city of Bethlehem, Judea.  He is survived by his mother Mary, His faithful apostles, numerous disciples, and many other followers.

Jesus was self-educated and spent most of His adult life working as a teacher.  Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is reported that He healed many patients.  Up until the time of His death, Jesus was teaching and sharing the Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor.

Jesus was most noted for telling parables about His Father’s Kingdom and performing miracles, such as feeding over 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish, and healing a man who was born blind.  On the day before His death, He held a Last Supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which He foretold His death.

The body was quickly buried in a stone grave, which was donated by Joseph of Arimathea, a loyal friend of the family.  By order of Pontius Pilate, a boulder was rolled in front of the tomb.  Roman soldiers were put on guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did.  Donations may be sent to anyone in need.”

This Easter day, I wanted to share one of my favorite memories about Jesus Christ at Untoalltheworld. I wish to invite you, should you desire, to share one of your favorite Jesus memories below.

On my full time mission, my companion and I once asked a member of our faith to share with us her testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. As she began to speak, a tear drizzled down one of her cheeks. She then said words I have never forgotten: “Sisters, if I didn’t know about Jesus Christ, I think I would die of a broken heart.”

In that moment, I felt – and have felt many times since – the truth of her words. The only kind of hearts we need to have are broken open to Jesus ones, not broken ones. He has redeemed us! We are saved from death and by our submission and repentance and faith in Him, from sin and ignorance, too! He has saved me from myself and from the Devil, and I love Him.

He lives, and I will praise Him. Hallelujiah!

One of my friends posted that obituary on Facebook, and I saw it just this morning. When I first started indexing, I did obituaries. I read hundreds, maybe thousands of good obituaries, along with many that were not so good. This obituary is absolutely beautiful, mostly because the Spirit testifies of the greatness of Jesus as it is read.
My Jesus story that I want to share happened in a Sacrament Meeting about 5 1/2 years ago. My oldest twin grandsons had turned 12, and this was maybe the third time they had passed the Sacrament. I was watching them take the bread to people, and I mentally said, “Heavenly Father, I am so proud of my grandsons.” Immediately, the thought came into my mind, “Now you know how I feel about My Son.” I have thought of that so many times since, and it has really helped me to stay focused as I think of Christ during the Sacrament.

    1. LaDawn,
Thank you for sharing that beautiful experience you had during the sacrament. It touched me deeply. What a powerful line of revelation you received! I am so blessed by your insights and friendship. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  2. Love you Katrina, love this!

During Covid when we had sacrament in our homes, I experienced such a powerful beautiful moment during this sacred partaking of the symbols of Him where I very much felt the Presence of My Savior right there in our home, it’s almost indescribable! I felt so much love, comfort, and power.
That special moment is forever etched in my heart, He is real, He lives, He is aware, He is generous. He loves me.

    1. I love this, Teresa. Thank you. I especially love how you said that Jesus is generous. What a great description of Him. Thanks for reading. I appreciate it so much.
