Keep Walking

My message today is for those who are tired

Of walking.

Because the miles are long

And the sun is hot

And the trail is dusty

And the way, though marked, still presents with patches that are overgrown.

The goal seems so lofty,

It’s somewhere over the rainbow,

But you are presently caught in the rain.

And your raincoat tore on the tree’s branch miles back.

The way is too often intimidating and uncertain.

And hard.

And you are sweaty, thirsty, speckled in mud.

You feel your aches.

Your wounds are many.

You see your blood stains,

Wonder if you can go on.

Yes! Forward!

Your walk is shortening the miles.

You are closing the chasm between you and what’s waiting.

Even when you can’t discern that it is so.

Keep walking.

Though tired, trust your gains.

Hold fast your distance.

Strive on!

You’ve heard.

Your heart has burned within you.

You’ve dared believe.

It will be more glorious than you can imagine.

Keep walking.

He is waiting.

So is your exaltation.

You can do it

Because He first did it.

His grace enables you,

Strengthens you, upholds you,

Pushes you forward,

Closer and closer

Towards the holiest of mountains you can’t yet see.

Keep going.

The end is glorious,

And you will be, too.

Keep walking.

I recently found this song and was so moved by it.

It’s about keeping on – the way our incredible pioneers did.

One foot in front of the other.

Always with faith in Christ for a better tomorrow.

For the mountain that is sure to come into view –

Beyond the valley.

Keep going!

The arms of Jesus await,

Unto all the world: And that, my friend, is “worth every mile.”
